Community Care Haliburton County President’s Annual Reports

The first year of my tenure as President is coming to a close. It has been an interesting year and has given me a greater appreciation of the volunteers and staff. Both groups do a tremendous job and I am sure the community realizes this. A big THANK YOU is well deserved. The other aspect that continues to amaze me is the financial support we receive through donations and the fundraising activities we sponsor.

Some of the activities that have taken place over the last year include:

A new union contract was negotiated which will provide stability over the next three years.

The current lease agreement was extended for an additional 2 years.

All obligations in regards to providing services have been fulfilled which means our funding from the LHIN need not be changed.

Our major fundraiser, namely the Scotty Morrison Charity Hockey Tournament, was well received and a huge success financially.

Community Care Haliburton County is in good shape financially. There is no debt and there are some funds set aside for unforeseen contingencies. Our client base continues to grow. At the current LHIN symposium it was mentioned that the population demographics are that people in their 20's to 30's move to the city, when in their 40's to 50's they move to the suburbs and then in their 60's to 70's they move to rural communities. This influx of people will cause a greater demand on our services over the next 15 years because of the maturing of the baby boomer generation.

Everyone should be aware that Community Care will be celebrating its' thirtieth anniversary this year. Also, a special thank you is extended to Donna MacDonald and Sherry Mulholland for their 25 years of dedicated service.

In conclusion, I look forward to working with everyone in the second year of my tenure as president.
