President's Report
by Annette Richardson
2006 was another successful year for Community Care Haliburton County and showed considerable growth.
I believe our mission statement " to enable seniors and adults with disabilities and/or illnesses and their caregivers to remain independent at their place of residence for a longer period; to continue to cooperate with others in the County to create an awareness of client needs and to enhance the quality of life" is being met.
Donna and her staff should be congratulated. In addition, we are very fortunate to have some dedicated and wonderful Volunteers (174) that our clients rely on.
There has been an increase in our services:
Frozen Meals: In October 2005 we provided 715 meals to 74 clients, this has increased to 1002 and 79 clients.
Transportation for Medical/Other appointments: 3582 round trips for 1791 clients.
Emergency Response System: We currently have 129 clients using this service.
Fundraising: Art in the Park, Medieval Feast and the Golf Tournament were 3 major fundraisers this year.
These are just a few of the programs offered at Community Care Haliburton.
Next year look for a new Resource Centre to assist clients in obtaining information and help with completing forms - DVA, Old Age Security, CPP etc.
Please take a few moments to remember Gordon Monk our Past President who passed away in September.
Hope to see you at our Christmas Lunch at the Haliburton Legion
on November 30th, enjoy a fantastic Christmas lunch and enjoy our community care traveling road show with Shelley King.
I wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
