Generation to Generation, Seniors tell their stories

This book is a series of stories from the residents of Haliburton County, over the age of 70, as collected and written by grade twelve students from Haliburton Highlands Secondary School. Each high school student interviewed a senior in a discussion that lasted between one and three hours, recorded the conversation on a digital recorder, and then drafted a story based on the interview. These drafts were workshopped, revised numerous times, and then returned to the seniors for feedback. The results of the collaboration is a beautiful coffee table book called "Generation to Generation, Seniors tell their stories".

You can find these books at The Storeroom and the Minden Hills Cultural Centre in Minden, Masters Book Store, the Rails End Gallery and Arts Centre, and at Community Care in Haliburton, and at Agnew's General Store in Wilberforce.

It is fitting that the stories of our elders should be heard as well as read, so storytellers Fay; Wilkinson and Jim Blake have brought the stories to life on an accompanying CD, which you will find in a pocket at the back of each book.

Each book is sold for $25.00 and all the proceeds from this book go back to Community Care so that they might fund other intergenerational projects.

This book was made possible by a New Horizons for Seniors grand, funded by Human Resources and Social Development of Canada.
